How Bad Things Have Gotten

How Bad Things Have Gotten

According to The World Health Organization over 74% of Americans are Overweight and over 35% are Obese. Worst of all these numbers have been climbing year after year.

In what strange science fiction world is it possible for 7 of every 10 people to be unhealthy? 4 of every 10 already sick? Yes, Obesity is a sickness because it is a almost certain predictor of other diseases like Type 2 Diabetes, Heart Disease, Sleep Apnea, and on and on.

Strangely these alarming statistics are mostly ignored by everyone. Beyond a few TV shows about Fat people being put through hell to lose weight and an occasional evening news segment about the “ever growing obesity epidemic” no one seems to care.

Obesity is so wide spread that it’s becoming fashionable. People are proudly showing off their sickness, saying “I’m just a big person” or “it’s how God made me” and “I love myself!” As nice as all those things sound they are no different that saying you’re proud to being dying of Lung Cancer and refusing to quit smoking.

This is nothing to be proud of!

Until you believe there is a problem, you can’t fix it. This is a problem, and it’s NOT genetic.

Contrary to popular belief, Genetics play a very small role in Obesity and even in those it is only a small factor. Using Genetics as an excuse is just that, an excuse. If it’s not your fault you can’t fix it, Obesity is your fault! But not because you wanted to be Obese or because you were too lazy, or didn’t have enough will power.

The belief that Obesity is caused by Genetics is often based on the observation of “My parents were overweight, and so am I, so it must be Genetic” when the truth was that your parents had bad eating habits and you learned those habits from them. It is based on Environment, not genetics!

Will Power, Laziness, and Genetics are not why you’re fat. The reason your fat is because of what you eat, not how much, or how often.
